can any one help
bought as a project/bit of a whim from a dealer not owner
What have I got?
1800 engine on V5 engine no E-H******** single SU carb
I cannot find any reference for that engine number
I'm also a bit confused about the reg.....if it refers to original donor surely they had stopped selling Marinas by then
cheers

Not a MK5 due to front/luvers. I take it it is a marina engine and not Ford? If ford underpinnings likly a MK4. Anyway I am sure Ian will be able to tell you exactly which version it is.

Looks like a Mk3 to me as they had the rounded front to the bonnet - Mk4's I think had the moulded in lights on top of the front wings, although I think Den did a Mk3 1/2 still with a Marina donor.
Hopefully your V5 shows the car to be a "Pilgrim", and not a "Morris Marina"? When the car was first built and put on the road, some local registation authorities allowed the use of the original donor registration as the rules were not as strict as they are now. A lot of people believe that your car should have been registered on a "Q" plate (me included!), but if it shows the make of car correctly, ie "Pilgrim" then there is nothing to worry about. If not, then you might have a problem on your hands.
Do you have a build manual for the car? If not I can let you have one on CD.

thanks Ian & Robin
It has the rounded front bonnet chrome side lights on top of the wings so MK3 it is then
and it is registered as a pilgrim
I've just found the plate on the engine and the E-H is preceded with 18V
I would be very grateful for the build manual and also any guidance on what seats would replace the tatty bucket seats that one of this household can't get in or is it get out of
cheers Paul

hi Temple i have a Mk3 in the process of being built i put mg Zr seats in mine they are excellent quality leather and fit snugger but i had to do a lot a of modifying first i cut off the original runners and welded on universal ones from car builder solutions then made mounting brackets from 2 inch box section 4 in total drilled through these on the centres for the slides bolted through the floor and a stainlees steel plate, a lot of work involved but i have 5 to 6 inches of movement i,m seated in a slightly higher postion but it,s very easy to get in and out off and extremely comfortable there are lots of seats on ebay but be carefull because the seat channel is narrow you can also buy new of coarse from such firms as car builder solutions or Europa car parts if you need the numbers to order the catalogues let me know but be warned they can be pricy
if your local you can always pop in for a brew and a chat I'm,near oldham lancs cheers Ray

Hi again Paul - let me have your address off line and I will send off a CD to you.
As for seats, I have always recommended the easy route by suggesting the narrow sports recliner as sold by Cobra Supaform. Although you might find them a bit expensive they are not as dear as a lot of others, and you have the advantage of their re-cover service if after a number of years use they wear out or you change colour scheme. They are not bucket seats as such so are not so restrictive, and easy to get in and out. Another seat you could go for are the Triumph spitfire ones, although finding a pair in good condition at a reasonable price is slightly difficult these days.
